Baby Showers!

I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends! My Lubbock friends threw me a fabulous shower on December 26th 2008. After moving to a new city, I had made a few friends, but missed having close friends around. Being pregnant in a new city can feel lonely. It meant so much to have my friends get together for me and show that they care! We had such a good time and Jackson got lots of cool stuff!

Lauren made me this adorable diaper cake and Lori (below) made that beautiful teddy bear cake. Dezz made my shower invites. I have such creative friends!

My co-worker friends also threw me a little shower (below).

Jackson Meets Tyler (sort of)!

Not many people are fortunate enough to say they have known their best friend their entire lives, literally! Jana and I are more like family than friends and we were exstatic to be pregnant at the same time and only 5 days apart! We were able to get together only once during our pregnancies but we had a blast, none the less. We knew we could not pass up this photo-op! Not sure if we will ever be pregnant this close together again! I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to experience this with my best friend! Is there anything we haven't gone through together?!

We're Expecting!!!

We found out Jackson was on the way on June 25th 2008, less than a week after Nolan defended his PhD. We were set to move to Pittsburgh from Boulder only two days later! Even after five years of marriage, we were not planning on having a little one so soon, having just signed a lease on a tiny apartment in a busy neighborhood in Pittsburgh, and Nolan starting a grueling post-doc...but God had other plans for us, and we were pleasantly surprised!

My best friend Jana had just told me a few days earlier that she was expecting. We had always joked about having our kids at the same time, since there wasn't much we didn't go through together growing up. I laughed when she told me and told her she was on her own with this one! Little did I know that we would end up with due-dates less than a week apart! She was due on February 22nd, I was due on February 27th. We are thrilled to be having our first babies so close together! Even though we were thousands of miles apart, we were excited to go through our pregnancies together. Needless to say, we talked almost everyday!

The day I found out was my last day of work at a salon in Boulder. My going-away party was that evening- just a few people meeting up for a few drinks after work. Earlier in the day, I was talking to a co-worker about how Jana was pregnant and how we always thought we would have our babies at the same time. She jokingly said that maybe I was pregnant. Everyone at work had been commenting on how there was just something different about me, that I had a 'glow'. She did the math and we figured out that I actually was a little late. I still thought that it would just be too crazy and didn't think it was possible. We weren't trying, or even thinking about it yet, knowing what we still had ahead of us in Pittsburgh. I decided to take a test just to make sure before having a few drinks that night. Nolan picked me up from work and we didn't have time to go home before meeting up with everyone. I made up an excuse to run into a grocery store and made him wait in the car. I ran in, grabbed a test, paid for it, and took it while in the store. I found out Jackson was on the way in the bathroom of King Soopers! I told Nolan in the car a few minutes later. He was shocked! Obviously, he didn't see that coming at all, thinking I was just running in and out of the store. Jana was the first person I called, and we laughed about how crazy it was! Later we found out that we were due only 5 days apart!

Later that evening, we went out with friends as planned. Obviously, I wasn't drinking that night and felt like I needed to tell everyone since it was my party! We had such a fun night celebrating my exciting news!
